Kayleigh is a hypnobirthing teacher (running Happy Healthy Birth UK) and co-facilitator of Pregnancy Circles. She is also a busy mum of 2 gorgeous little humans, a practising social worker and a self-confessed ‘birth nerd’!

As a mum, Kayleigh believes that it’s essential that we learn to show up ‘as we are’. To combat the ideas of ‘competitive parenting’ that arise when we pretend that we have ‘everything together’ all the time, and just accept that most of us are winging it, but trying our best! This type of honesty breaks down barriers, creates connection and breeds solidarity – and that is what we need as mothers. (As well as a good sense of humour, because, honestly, some days you just have to laugh!). Kayleigh has also witnessed, time and time again at the Pregnancy Circles, that when women stand with women and share their wisdom, kindness and non-judgemental support, we can all have a much better experience of pregnancy, birth and motherhood.

As a birth worker, Kayleigh believes that understanding the physiology of birth should be the foundation of all birth education; once we understand the natural physiological process, we can begin to understand the impact of our environment and any interventions we may accept, and only then can we make truly informed choices. More importantly, I believe that when women understand the physiology of birth, they gain a respect for their own bodies in a way that is so powerful it can literally change their lives! As a social worker, Kayleigh believes that we should all know our rights and that knowledge is power! Kayleigh offers ‘birth preparation’ courses that are factual, logical and evidence-based. She explores the incredible physiology of birth (what happens in your body), the power of the mind-body connection (and how to utilise this within your labour, birth and beyond), and also considers how the wider culture and system within which we give birth can impact us. This understanding enables us to take control of our own situations, ensuring that decisions we make are in the best interests of ourselves and our babies, not the system. Kayleigh has personally experienced both a highly medicalised labour and birth, and an unmedicated, home water birth. Despite the very different circumstances, she views both birth experiences as positive as she was included, informed and in control both times. Kayleigh doesn’t believe there’s any such thing as ‘the perfect birth’ (what’s ‘perfect’ for one person, is not for another). And she doesn’t believe there should be any hierarchy in birth (or motherhood!); everyone’s birth is unique and transformative, however it unfolds. Her personal mission is to spread the word that informed choice is the key to an empowering birth, and the best start to motherhood.

That Birth Course

As a hypnobirthing teacher I offer full antenatal courses on a 1:1 or group basis, both online and in person.

I trained as a KG Hypnobirthing teacher in 2020 and in the 4 years that have followed, I have emersed myself fully into learning as much as possible about labour & birth. In 2023, I created That Birth Course, drawing on all of my training, knowledge and

experience to build a bespoke hypnobirthing course that aligns with my values and provides couples with all of the information they need to have a positive pregnancy experience, make informed decisions and create a kick-ass birth plan that represents their unique wishes and preferences.

The course includes:

· 9+ live teaching hours

· A detailed, easy to follow course handbook

· WhatsApp support throughout your pregnancy and until the baby arrives

· Hypnobirthing tracks to listen to at home

· Lots of additional resources

As a ‘forever juggling’ working mum, I have very limited availability so please contact me directly to check availability! You can email me at happyhealthybirth@outlook.com.

Birth Planning for Couples

A 2 hour, interactive and practical workshop covering all elements of birth planning, for both the birthing person and their chosen birth partner! My amazing husband joins me in facilitating this group, offering a unique environment where birth partners are equally involved and valued.

This workshop offers an opportunity for couples to spend some dedicated time together, reflecting on the pregnancy so far and exploring their wishes for the upcoming birth experience. It is informal, practical and light-hearted but rammed full of top tips, advice and guidance about all areas of birth planning. There are lots of activities and even more resources to take away.

Having a baby is one of the most important and transformative experiences of your lives, it doesn’t make sense to go into it without some idea of what you want to happen. A birth plan is not a ‘script’ that you can expect babies to follow (if only!), it is a way of recording your preferences in a wide range of scenarios, so that no matter what happens during your labour experience, you can feel informed, involved and in control. The power of birth planning is in the process!

Group sizes will always be small to ensure a relaxed and comfortable experience in our beautiful yurt setting.

The Physiology of Birth

A 2 hour workshop exploring birth as a physiological process. We will look at the hormones of birth, the muscles of the uterus and the process of labour and birth, as well as exploring all the ways we can support our natural physiology.

This workshop is for everyone, not just those wishing to have an undisturbed, physiological birth. Understanding physiology is fundamental to all birth education, regardless of the desired mode of birth – only when we understand the natural physiological process can we begin to understand how our environment and any interventions can affect us. This knowledge allows us to make plans that support our own and our baby’s physiology in all eventualities. The workshop will be a combination of activities, demonstrations and discussions, with plenty of opportunities to ask any questions you may have and resources to take away with you.

You will leave with a clear understanding of what happens within your body during labour and birth, the impact of your environment on how your labour unfolds and lots of practical tools to support yours and your baby’s physiology at every stage.

Group sizes will always be small to ensure a relaxed and comfortable experience in our beautiful yurt setting.

Owning your Birth - Understanding your rights and choices

This 2 hour workshop is for everyone and provides a safe space for you to explore all of the options available to you in your upcoming labour and birth experience. There will be activities that help you to consider your personal circumstances and expectations, as well as opportunities to really reflect on what you truly desire and what matters most to you. There will be lots of myth-busting and exploring how the maternity system, our culture and society impact our experiences of pregnancy, birth and motherhood.

Research conducted in collaboration with a European network of experts in birth trauma, shows that for around one in three women, the experience of labour is traumatic. One in 25 women develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a result, affecting mother, child and wider family members. A significant proportion of this is attributed to ‘poor care or mistreatment’, and we know that for many women, it is not how their baby is born, but how they experienced their birth that impacts them. Feeling ‘out of control’ is a huge contributory factor and this course aims to combat this by sharing information, signposting and empowering women to take control of their own birth.

You can consider this course as us ‘sharing the road-map’ to understanding the current maternity system so that you can navigate it from a place of empowerment! You should be at the centre of every decision made.

Knowledge is power! And all women deserve to start their parenting journey from a place of empowerment. Your body. Your baby. Your choice.

Group sizes will always be small to ensure a relaxed and comfortable experience in our beautiful yurt setting.

“We have finished the course and have loved every single minute!!! We cannot thank Kayleigh enough for making the course so enjoyable and we have genuinely looked forward to our session every week. The course was very informative and really put us at ease heading into our first experience of birth. Though a lot of this is utterly down to Kayleigh’s infectious personality. We are going to miss our weekly sessions but will be keeping in touch with Kayleigh as she has been a little but important cog in our journey. If anyone has any doubts, don’t!!!”
“Kayleigh’s course came with so much more than just birth information- she presented the info in a structured way but allowed time and space for all of our questions- and offered detailed and experienced perspectives in response. Kayleigh also checked in with us between sessions to find out if we had any additional questions or topics for inclusion in the next session. The resources provided were really clear and concise and we have used them after the course to plan our birth and refresh our memories on some topics. "
“I thoroughly enjoyed Kayleigh’s Hypnobirth course. She’s super informative and engaginging, as well as offering an abundance of material and sources. Kayleigh’s passion for this subject is so infectious and always draws you and makes you want to learn more. Her personality shines through and immediately puts you at ease for subject that can be a difficult journey for some. I’d highly recommend Kayleigh and her Hypnobirth course to anyone seeking to be more informed about birth and the techniques you can learn in preparation for it."
